Places That Feel Different After You Leave

An open padi field in Langkawi stretching into the quiet horizon.

I went to Langkawi because everything had started to feel too loud, and I just needed to disappear for a bit.

I picked a place far from the beach crowds, planted right in the middle of an open padi field. While I was there, my mind was almost completely silent. I did not do much of anything. I just watched the green stalks move with the wind and let the days drift by.

It was only weeks later, back in the everyday routine and scrolling through the camera roll, that the weight of that place finally landed.

When you are running on empty, real rest can feel uneventful because your mind is still waiting for the next thing to react to. It is only when you step back into the noise that you realize that quiet field was where your breathing finally slowed down.
